Gary studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse Theater School in New York with the legendary Sandy Meisner, Richard Pinter, and Ron Stetson. He portrayed Swedish diplomat Roul Wallenberg in, Wallenburg Still Lives and returned to Canada where he apprenticed in a classical repertory at the Stratford Festival. He performed in King Lear, The Merchant of Venice and understudied many roles including Brian Bedford’s “Horace” in The Little Foxes.

Gary understudied and performed the role of Oscar Wilde in the Canadian premier of Gross Indecency and has appeared at the Toronto Fringe Festival in Michel Tremblay's Remember Me.

Film credits include The Judy Garland Story, The Virgin Suicides, Blue Murder and a recurring role as “Rodney” in Queer as Folk.
